Secrétariat General de la Mer (SGMer – France)

Set up in 1995, the “Secrétariat General de la Mer” (French General Secretariat for the sea) control, evaluate and contributes to France’s maritime policies under the direct authority of the Prime Minister. SGMer ensures the application and coherence of the government decisions among all the ministerial departments and agencies involved. He organizes and manages the work of Maritime prefects. Since 2009, it has been reinforced by the creation of the Coast Guard function associated with an operational centre for the Coast Guard function (COFGC). The COFGC gather analysts from all departments operating at sea: Navy, Custom, Gendarmerie, Police, Maritime affairs, Civil Protection.

Within the Framework of this project, SGMer will coordinate the progress of tasks and work packages, and especially concerning the finances and reporting activities. Moreover, the administration will provide its expertise. In addition, the SGMer will bring its expertise concerning the services and definition, the trial preparation and the trial execution assessment. Finally, the SGmer will also help the organization of the events in order to support the preparation of the VIP days.
